Overview
***THIS IS A TEMPORARY 8-WEEK TERM POSITION***
As Junior Maintenance Technician, you will report to the Property Manager and support the Senior Maintenance Technician in upkeep, repairs, unit turnovers, and general maintenance for a 288-unit luxury apartment community, including clubhouse and amenities. You will ensure that all apartments and common areas meet our high standards for safety, functionality, and resident satisfaction. You will work closely with the other maintenance and housekeeping staff on the property, collaborating with and learning from them to develop your skills and professional experience. In your role, you will play a big part in cultivating a cohesive, collaborative culture and maintaining a strong pride in excellence. This is an ideal role for someone with basic skills who wants to grow into a full maintenance role.
Duties
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks: periodic HVAC filter changes, light fixture replacements, minor plumbing/electrical repairs, small carpentry or patch/paint jobs, appliance checks (refrigerator, stove/oven, washer/dryer, microwave), etc.
- Support unit turnover: remove old flooring or materials if needed, prep units for repairs/painting/flooring, and coordinate with Cleaners/Housekeepers to prepare units for new residents.
- Help maintain common areas, exterior sidewalks/stairwells, exterior lighting, and amenity areas under supervision (pool deck, hot tub area, gym, grounds, etc.).
- Perform clean-up after work (debris removal, ensuring safe work areas), coordinate with Housekeeping as needed.
- Immediately flag any maintenance issues requiring higher-level attention; document tasks and notify Senior Technician or Property Manager.
- Follow instructions and help ensure all spaces meet our high standards for safety, functionality, and resident satisfaction.
- Coordinate with Property Manager, maintenance team and housekeeping staff to perform turnover, cleaning, and work orders efficiently.
- Update inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and tools according to policies and procedures.
- Update documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, inventories, follow-up actions, unit turnover logs, and pool maintenance logs as assigned.
- Perform assigned maintenance activities in compliance with safety requirements, local regulations, company policies and Fair Housing standards.
- Participate in ongoing training or mentorship with senior staff; uphold quality standards and ensure consistent service across the property.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of background check and drug screen required
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire.
- Some prior experience in multi-family maintenance, construction, handyman work, or similar.
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, appliance maintenance, and general building upkeep, or willingness to learn.
- Attention to detail, reliability, ability to work independently, good time management, and physical stamina (stairs, bending, lifting, moving).
- Dependable, safety-minded, good communication skills, and ability to take direction.
- Willingness to work under supervision and take on varied tasks.
- Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., OSHA)
- Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision after completion of training
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies or occasional weekend work as required
- Exposure to Microsoft Office 365 platforms strongly preferred: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel.
- Physical Requirements:
- -- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various conditions (some heights, confined spaces).

Pay: $24.00 per hour
