Job Summary
Pine Hollow Veterinary Service is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Western Reserve Animal Clinic team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive veterinary technical skills, including animal handling, laboratory procedures, and critical care. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing exceptional pet and animal care while supporting veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical services. The RVT will be responsible for assisting with diagnostics, treatments, and client communication, ensuring the well-being of our animal patients across various species.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with proper animal restraint and aseptic techniques.
- Perform laboratory tests including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to aid in patient diagnosis.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety throughout.
- Conduct animal husbandry duties such as feeding, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness of kennels and treatment areas.
- Handle animals of various species with care and professionalism, including dog handling and equine experience when applicable.
- Maintain accurate medical records and document all treatments, procedures, and observations diligently.
- Assist with pet grooming, pet care education for clients, and perform X-ray imaging as needed.
- Support veterinary critical care efforts by providing emergency interventions when necessary.
- Manage laboratory samples and perform diagnostic tests efficiently using proper techniques like aseptic methods.
Experience
- Prior veterinary technician experience is required; familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy is essential.
- Experience with kennel management, pet grooming, dog training, and pet care enhances suitability for this role.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures related to veterinary dentistry is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with animal catheterization, laboratory testing, X-ray operation, and animal restraint techniques is highly desirable.
- Experience working with diverse animals including dogs, cats, horses (equine experience), and other small or exotic animals is a plus.
- Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in veterinary critical care practices and possess strong animal handling skills across species.
