The Floor Tech is responsible for maintaining prescribed standards of cleanliness for assigned areas using germicidal solutions and following prescribed procedures and work schedules. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Principle Accountabilities: % of Time Spent
1. Ability to perform all Housekeeper duties. Additionally, washes windows inside and out; washes walls and ceilings; cleans up after construction, sewer backups and water leaks; cleans trash carts according to department procedures; hangs cubicle curtains; reports maintenance needs and safety hazards to Assistant Executive Housekeeper, Secretary or Manager. Measured by: Supervisory observation, documented discrepancies, and as reported by others. (20%)
2. While wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), empties and transports non-infectious and regulated (i.e.- waste that is potentially infectious) waste, and soiled linen according to department policy and procedure 100% of the time. May need to operate trash compactor. Measured by: Supervisory observation, no documented incidents of improperly handled waste,and as reported by others. (20%)
3. Prepares initial setup of tables and chairs as requested for meetings, banquets and classes in the meeting areas and tears down same when meeting has ended. Moves, removes and/or relocates furniture, furnishings, or equipment as directed and uses proper body mechanics 100% of the time. Measured by: Supervisory observation, as reported by others. (5%)
4. Cares for hard surface floors: Sets up 'Caution-Wet Floor' sign, dust mops, damp mops, spray buffs/burnishes, machine scrubs, strips old finish and lays new finish according to departmental procedures. Machine scrubs concrete sidewalks at entrances. Operates automatic scrubber, battery-powered burnisher, buffers, etc. according to established department procedures. Measured by: Supervisory observation, as reported by others. (20%)
5. Cares for carpet/upholstery: Spot cleans, damp buffs, shampoos and/or extracts deep soil on carpets, entry mats and runners. Spot cleans and/or extracts soil from upholstered furniture; making manual adjustments to attain optimal results per established procedures. Measured by: Supervisory observation, as reported by others. (20%)
6. Maintains required department records (i.e.- project work sheets, equipment sign in/out log, etc); files records in accordance with department policy. Measured by: Supervisory observation, as reported by others and required documentation. (5%)
7. Maintains department equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition; following department 'Lock Out/Tag Out' policy and procedure, removes unsafe equipment from service in a timely manner 100% of the time. Measured by: Supervisory observation, and no evidence of unsafe or unkempt equipment. (5%)
8. Performs other work duties as assigned. (5%)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is standing, walking, stooping, crouching 100% of the time. For repetitive action, employee is required to operate equipment, using tools. Employee must frequently lift 10-35 lbs and occasionally lift up to 65 lbs from floor to waist height. Some outdoor work may be required. May work occasionally work from a ladder. The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or development duties.
