About the Opportunity
An established private multi-provider dental practice in Manhattan is seeking an experienced Dental Practice Financial & Operations Consultant to help strengthen financial reporting, improve operational efficiency, optimize revenue cycle performance, and support long-term business growth.
This is a part-time contract consulting position with flexible hours. Hours will vary depending on the scope of each project and the ongoing needs of the practice. During the initial engagement, additional hours may be required to perform a comprehensive assessment of current financial and operational processes. Ongoing work will focus on periodic financial reviews, performance reporting, and continuous process improvement.
The selected consultant will work directly with ownership to develop meaningful financial reporting systems, analyze practice performance, evaluate financial processes, and provide strategic recommendations that improve efficiency, profitability, and overall business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Business Performance
- Analyze the overall financial health and business performance of the practice.
- Review revenue, operating expenses, cash flow, profitability, and financial trends.
- Develop executive-level financial reports and management dashboards.
- Establish meaningful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for ongoing performance monitoring.
- Assist ownership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance.
Revenue Cycle Management
- Review the complete dental revenue cycle from claim submission through payment.
- Analyze insurance collections, reimbursement trends, outstanding balances, and Accounts Receivable.
- Evaluate collection performance and recommend process improvements.
- Review insurance aging and patient aging reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve collection efficiency and maximize revenue.
Financial Reporting & Analytics
- Design recurring financial reports for ownership.
- Analyze Production, Collections, Net Collection Rate, Accounts Receivable, operating expenses, payroll costs, and profitability.
- Monitor provider productivity and hygiene performance.
- Present financial information in a clear, organized, and actionable format.
Operational Review
- Evaluate financial workflows and operational processes.
- Review existing reporting systems and recommend best practices.
- Improve financial visibility, reporting accuracy, accountability, and management insight.
- Recommend workflow improvements that support long-term operational excellence.
- Assist with implementing standardized reporting procedures and financial controls.
Executive Reporting
Prepare periodic reports including:
- Financial Performance Summary
- Revenue Cycle Analysis
- Practice Performance Metrics
- Operational Performance Review
- KPI Dashboard
- Revenue Optimization Opportunities
- Recommendations for Business Improvement
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience providing financial consulting, operational consulting, financial analysis, or auditing services for dental practices.
- Strong understanding of dental practice operations and revenue cycle management.
- Experience working with Dentrix or comparable dental practice management software.
- Knowledge of dental insurance billing, collections, and Accounts Receivable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prepare professional executive reports and present actionable recommendations.
- A proven track record of helping dental practices improve financial reporting, operational performance, or revenue cycle management.
- Professional references from previous dental practices or healthcare organizations will be requested during the interview process.

Position Details
This is an ongoing consulting opportunity intended to support long-term business growth and financial excellence.
Hours are flexible and will vary based on workload and project requirements. The initial engagement may require additional time to evaluate current systems and establish reporting processes, followed by periodic reviews and ongoing strategic financial support.
Pay: $55.00 - $85.00 per hour
