The Park Rapids High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated
.5 FTE High School Vocal Music Teacher to join the Park Rapids District on a part-time basis to teach grades 7-12 choir/vocal music. The ideal candidate will inspire students through the art of vocal music, fostering a love for singing and performance while developing their musical skills. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our students' artistic talents in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vocal music curriculum that aligns with state standards and district goals.
- Teach vocal techniques, music theory, and performance skills to students in grades 9-12.
- Prepare students for various performances, including concerts, competitions, and community events.
- Organize and lead rehearsals, ensuring effective preparation and teamwork among students.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
- Collaborate with other music educators and staff to promote a cohesive music program within the school.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress, upcoming events, and opportunities for involvement.
- Stay updated on current trends in vocal music education and incorporate new techniques and resources into the curriculum.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Vocal Performance, or a related field.
- Valid teaching license in Music Education for the state of Minnesota.
- Proven experience in teaching vocal music at the high school level preferred.
- Strong vocal and performance skills, with the ability to teach a diverse range of musical styles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
- Passion for music and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings and weekends for performances and events.
