Position Summary
Ophthalmic Partners, PC is seeking a professional, customer-focused Patient Access Representative to join our team. The Patient Access Representative serves as a first point of contact for patients and plays an important role in supporting patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, call handling, and front-office communication across the practice.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to provide pleasant, efficient service in a fast-paced medical office and call center environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer and process all incoming calls pleasantly, professionally, and efficiently.
- Accurately schedule patient appointments.
- Check in and check out patients while maintaining accurate patient information.
- Collect co-pays and enter charges in accordance with practice procedures.
- Verify insurance coverage and retrieve referrals as required.
- Communicate with other departments to resolve patient requests and concerns.
- Facilitate physician schedule changes by moving and rescheduling patient appointments.
- Answer patient inquiries about insurances accepted, office hours, services, locations, exam fees, and other routine requests for information.
- Triage calls according to practice guidelines and route messages to the appropriate provider, technician, department, or location.
- Retrieve and distribute voicemail, web mailbox, and electronic messages as needed.
- Provide physician-specific, encounter-specific, or appointment-specific instructions to patients.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while managing high call volume and multiple competing priorities.
- Support a positive patient experience by communicating clearly, accurately, and respectfully with patients, physicians, and staff.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of customer service, administrative, medical office, or call center experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy healthcare environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to use office equipment and telephone systems.
Preferred
- Previous healthcare, ophthalmology, specialty practice, or medical office experience.
- Prior call center experience.
- Experience with appointment scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, and patient payment collection.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and practice management systems.

- Repetitive use of fingers, hands, wrists, and arms during computer and telephone work.
Pay: $20.50 - $24.00 per hour
