Overview
Join our dynamic transportation team as a Dispatcher, where you will be the vital link ensuring seamless coordination of road transportation operations. Duties
- Coordinate and dispatch freight vehicles efficiently using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management.
- Monitor GPS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries.
- Manage multi-line phone systems to handle driver inquiries, customer calls, and internal communications with professionalism and clarity.
- Maintain accurate data entry records related to shipments, driver logs, and delivery schedules while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules.
- Oversee shipping & receiving operations, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with safety standards.
- Utilize analysis skills to troubleshoot logistical issues, improve dispatching processes, and support fleet management initiatives.
Experience
- Proven experience in road transportation operations or logistics dispatching within a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with transportation planning tools such as GIS, GPS tracking systems, vehicle dispatch software, and Oracle Transportation Management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and phone etiquette for effective internal communication and customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry, reporting, and analysis tasks.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to freight transport and vehicle safety standards.
- Experience working with logistics or supply chain management systems in a 3PL or fleet management setting is highly desirable.
