The DoubleTree by Hilton Burlington is Vermont’s largest hotel and conference center, operating at scale with 324 guest rooms, 32,000+ square feet of meeting space, and a dynamic mix of group and transient demand. As the property continues to evolve, we are seeking an Assistant General Manager who can operate with range, pace, and precision.
This is not a desk-based role. This is a hands-on operational leadership position for someone who is equally comfortable behind the Front Desk, walking guest rooms, aligning Food & Beverage execution, and overseeing Engineering priorities, all within the same day.
The ideal candidate is a true cross-department operator: proactive, highly accountable, and energized by volume. This individual will serve as a key partner to the General Manager and directly lead department heads across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily hotel operations across all departments, ensuring alignment, accountability, and consistency of execution
- Directly manage and support department heads, setting clear expectations and driving performance
- Actively engage in the operation: stepping in where needed to support service, resolve issues, and maintain flow
- Oversee scheduling and labor alignment across departments, balancing efficiency with service delivery
- Ensure seamless coordination of Food & Beverage operations with overall hotel execution, particularly during high-volume and group periods
- Drive project management efforts across the property, including operational initiatives, process improvements, and day-to-day coordination
- Oversee Engineering operations, including preventative maintenance, vendor coordination, and prioritization of work impacting the guest experience
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, and event areas to ensure brand and quality standards are consistently met
- Partner with the General Manager on forecasting, labor strategy, and overall operational performance
- Maintain strong communication across departments, ensuring issues are addressed proactively and do not repeat
Position Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive hotel leadership experience, with demonstrated responsibility across multiple departments
- Strong operational background in Food & Beverage and Front Office, with working knowledge of Housekeeping and Engineering
- Proven ability to lead department heads and drive accountability in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated experience managing labor, scheduling, and contributing to financial performance
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Hilton brand experience strongly preferred; familiarity with Hilton systems and standards is a significant advantage
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead, coach, and influence across departments
Who You Are
- You are not reactive; you anticipate.
- You do not observe; you engage.
- You are a high-energy, hands-on leader who moves fluidly between departments, bringing structure where there is noise and clarity where there is ambiguity. You are comfortable holding the line on standards while remaining adaptable in a constantly shifting environment.
- You take ownership, follow through, and ensure that what starts gets finished.
Why This Role
- This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role within a high-performing, high-expectation environment where your impact will be immediate and visible.
- You will be part of a seasoned team, operating a flagship property within the market, with the ability to influence both the day-to-day guest experience and long-term operational success
