Certified Nursing Assistant/Certified Medication Assistant
The Residential Behavioral Health CNA provides direct, compassionate care for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health needs. Assists registered nurse and medical team with medication management and care plans. Observes patients’ symptomology and response to medication to provide specific information to the medical team. CNA will observe changes in physical and emotional well-being of clients and report to the treatment team about any noted changes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides individualized attention, which encourages each resident’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental and psychosocial well-being.
2. Is knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for residents and provides support to the residents according to their care plan. Contributes to the care planning process by providing the clinical team with specific information and observations of the residents’ needs and preferences.
3. Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents in the delivery of services to them. Interact with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment.
4. Fully understands all aspects of residents’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Is responsible for promptly reporting to the clinical and/or administrative staff incidents or evidence of resident abuse or violation of residents’ rights.
5. Assists in maintaining a safe, neat and clean environment; reports environmental
deficiencies to the charge nurse such as lighting or equipment problems.
6. Observes residents for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to appropriate staff.
7. Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with the residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
8. Assists and escorts residents for appointments such as at the beauty shop or attending activities or church services. Participates in activities and functions as directed.
9. Practices careful and efficient use of supplies and linen and follows established charge procedures for resident charge items.
10. Completed certified nursing assistant records documenting care provided or other information in keeping with department policies.
11. Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures, including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated and proper disposal of soiled materials.
12. Walks extensively to and from various locations of the unit while making rounds.
13. Promotes a homelike environment for residents.
14. Responsible for medication count auditing and documenting findings for managers to review.
15. Responsible for medical equipment and supply inventory and reporting needed items to nurse manager and facilities manager.
16. Responsible for filing residential controlled medication logs.
Knowledge And Skills:
Have the training, knowledge, and/or experience demonstrating competence in the treatment of the disease of addiction, including the management of withdrawal; client evaluation; motivational counseling techniques; and the taking and recording of vital signs.
Have the ability to work independently while being a team player. Possess the skills to network with all resources in order to provide the best customer service with clients or family members seeking help from GPR Treatment Services.
The ability to ensure a safe and clean working environment complying with GPR Treatment Services Policies and Procedures, Oklahoma Administrative Rules, CNA Scope of Practice.
Education And Experience:
- Current Oklahoma Certification
- Certified in first aid methods including cardiopulmonary resuscitation
For individuals recovering from the disease of alcoholism and/or from other drug addiction, have maintained continuous sobriety for the immediate past two years at the time of hire.
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
