Duties
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
- Handle animals safely and confidently, including animal restraint, to ensure comfort and safety for both pets and staff.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood draws, sample collection, and processing to support diagnostic efforts.
- Take X-ray images accurately while maintaining proper animal positioning and safety protocols.
- Support pet care activities including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery during veterinary critical care procedures.
- Manage animal records meticulously, documenting treatments, vaccinations, and medical histories using veterinary terminology and animal physiology knowledge.
- Assist with specialized procedures such as animal catheterization, dental cleanings involving dental terminology, and pet grooming to enhance overall pet health.
Qualifications
- Prior kennel experience or hands-on animal handling experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and animal physiology is essential for success in this role.
- Experience with veterinary technician tasks such as aseptic technique, laboratory work, X-ray operation, and animal catheterization is advantageous.
- Strong skills in dog and cat handling, pet care, pet grooming, and dog training will help you excel in supporting our team’s efforts.
