Meat Counter Specialist Description
As a Meat Counter Specialist for The Butcher’s Market, you will have the opportunity to work with management and other associates to provide the highest level of customer service to our guests. You will be required to conduct yourself in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner and assist our guests in any way possible.
The primary duty of our Meat Counter Specialist is to work behind the meat and deli cases. Their work focuses on interacting with customers, preparing and displaying meat products, prepping, and light cooking. The position has a moderate physical requirement and includes walking, lifting, and carrying product, and being exposed to various temperature changes.
Responsibilities
- Observe shift operating hours as scheduled or assigned by Store Manager.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
- Provide premier customer service, by engaging customers in friendly conversation while making eye contact, cross-selling products presenting them with their purchases either neatly wrapped or vacuum packed and educating guests on different selections and types of poultry, pork, beef and fish.
- Prepare made-to-order sandwiches for guests.
- Assist in preparing a variety of meat, cheese, and produce items using a knife, scales, vacuum pack machine, and meat slicers.
- Set up refrigerated display case with meats, poultry, and seafood and rotate product to maintain freshness standards.
- Assist in stocking produce, cheese, and prepared food items in refrigerated retail cases.
- Maintain cleanliness of store and perform other tasks as directed by management staff.
Requirements of Job:
- To be able to lift 50 lbs comfortably and frequently lift and carry 25 lbs
- Be able to work a 10–12-hour shift on your feet (walking and standing)
