Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and other culinary tools
- Adhere strictly to food safety standards and proper food handling procedures to ensure a clean and safe kitchen environment
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new dishes or modifications based on ingredient availability and dietary needs
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including countertops, utensils, appliances, and storage spaces
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff and dietary aides to coordinate meal preparation and service times
- Ensure accurate portioning and presentation of food items to meet quality standards
- Support catering events or special meal requests with timely preparation and serving
Experience
- Previous experience working in a food industry setting such as restaurants, catering services, or institutional kitchens is highly desirable
- Familiarity with dietary department procedures and dietary aide responsibilities is a plus
- Proven ability in food preparation, cooking techniques, and recipe adherence
- Strong knife skills with slicing techniques for efficient ingredient preparation
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments
- Experience operating various kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with kitchen staff and serve customers efficiently
- Background in meal planning, food service operations, or culinary arts enhances suitability for this role
