Job Summary
We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Porter / Maintenance Building Cleaner to join our team and help maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of residential buildings in the Bronx.
The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and experienced in building cleaning and basic maintenance. Candidates must have their own reliable mode of transportation and be able to travel to assigned properties throughout the Bronx.
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain building lobbies, hallways, stairwells, sidewalks, and other common areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash
- Maintain clean and organised garbage and recycling areas
- Clean and restock common-area bathrooms when applicable
- Perform basic building maintenance and minor repairs
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damages, or building issues to management
- Assist with basic painting, light bulb replacement, and minor upkeep
- Perform snow removal and sidewalk maintenance when required
- Communicate professionally with residents, property managers, and team members
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining high cleaning standards
Requirements
- Previous experience as a building porter, maintenance worker, janitor, or commercial/residential cleaner
- Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures, equipment, and supplies
- Experience performing basic maintenance and minor repairs
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Own reliable transportation and the ability to travel to assigned Bronx locations
- Able to perform physically active work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying cleaning supplies, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Authorised to work in the United States
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Spanish-speaking ability is preferred
- Must be able to provide professional references
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in residential apartment buildings
- Familiarity with building maintenance and property management procedures
- Experience with garbage handling, recycling, and common-area upkeep
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, or emergency shifts when needed

Pay: $18.50 - $22.00 per hour
