Job Summary:
The Childcare Floater provides support in multiple classrooms, assists with daily activities, and ensures the well-being of children. This role involves covering for staff during planning blocks, breaks, scheduled meetings or stepping in when extra assistance is needed, and supporting a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for children of various age groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care and education to children under the guidance of the Classroom Teacher.
- Foster each child’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through play, exploration, and responsive caregiving.
- Maintain active supervision and safety of children in all environments.
- Support classroom teachers by assisting with activities, transitions, and daily routines.
- Promote positive, respectful communication with families, coworkers, and children.
- Uphold center policies, licensing requirements, and Oxford SACC’s mission and philosophy.
- Ensure environments are clean, organized, and meet health and safety standards.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months experience in a licensed childcare or early education setting.
- Must receive a Letter of Eligibility from Maine DHHS (comprehensive background check).
- Must have or be working toward one of the following:
- Step 5 or higher on the MRTQ Career Lattice, or
- CDA, Maine State Credential, AA/AS, in Early Childhood Education, Social Services, or related field.
- Maine Roads to Quality registration required.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
