Full Time position

This position will support the university’s initiative to care and management for all vertebrae research animals.
The position is responsible for:
- Daily care of the research animals
- Cleaning and sanitation of cages
- Handling and restraint of animals
- Facility
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Qualified candidates must have the ability to work well with others
- Requires a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with others
Desired Qualifications
- Animal technician training
- Experience in a laboratory animal setting
- Working knowledge of breeding, weaning, and record-keeping
- Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) at the ALAT level or higher strongly preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Must be able to achieve AALA certification at the ALAT level within the first year of this position
Special Physical and Mental Requirements
- Must be able to move/lift 50 pounds with or without accommodation
- Requires prolonged and/or repetitive reaching, bending, and twisting

- Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, Exposure to Hazardous Materials, Laboratory, Overtime occasionally, Weekend work occasionally
