ibcontrols, inc. is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Building Automation Controls Technician to join our growing team. Position Overview
As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for the configuring, programming, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization of Building Automation Systems (BAS). You will work alongside engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure systems operate efficiently and reliably while providing technical leadership in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, configure, commission, and validate Building Automation Systems.
- Configure, test, troubleshoot, and optimize DDC controllers and PLC-based control systems.
- Perform system checkout, startup, and functional performance testing.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and control-related issues.
- Train customers and end users on system operation and best practices.
- Utilize test instruments and networking tools to verify system performance.
- Read and interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation.
- Work independently while collaborating with project teams to deliver successful projects.
- Provide technical field leadership and support when required.
- Document work accurately and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in HVAC, building automation, controls, electrical, or related technical fields.
- Strong understanding of DDC systems, control sequences, and networking fundamentals.
- Ability to configure, program, and troubleshoot controllers and PLCs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is desirable.
- Experience with BACnet systems and Tridium Niagara platforms is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to quality, customer service, and continuous learning.
- Able to obtain Federal Security Clearance.
- Have a valid- clean Drivers License.
Education & Experience
Qualified candidates should meet one of the following:
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field and 3+ years of experience, or
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field and 1+ years of experience, or
- 5+ years of relevant field experience, military training, or vocational/technical training.

Location
Projects are located throughout New England. Travel within the region may be required. An opportunity to work on projects throughout North America be optionally available for the right candidate.
