Structural Steel Plate Fabricator

About the Role
We’re hiring a Steel Fabricator with welding experience to build structural and miscellaneous steel components in a fabrication shop environment. You’ll read shop drawings, fit and weld parts, and produce high-quality work that meets project specifications and safety standards.
What You’ll Do
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols
- Layout, measure, cut, drill, cope, and assemble steel components
- Fit-up parts using jigs, clamps, and fixtures to maintain tolerances
- Weld using MIG/FCAW (and SMAW as needed) on carbon steel
- Operate shop equipment (band saw, ironworker, grinder, drill press, mag drill, etc.)
- Perform quality checks (dimensions, squareness, weld size/appearance)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Work with supervisors/lead fabricators to meet production schedules
Required Qualifications
- Fabrication experience working with structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals
- Welding experience (MIG/FCAW required; stick a plus)
- Ability to read blueprints and understand weld symbols
- Strong measuring skills (tape measure, squares, levels)
- Able to safely lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet in a shop setting
- Reliable attendance and a safety-first mindset
Preferred
- AWS certification(s) or prior weld test completion
- Experience with beams, columns, stairs, rails, embeds, plates, and assemblies
- Forklift and/or overhead crane experience
- Rigging knowledge and familiarity with shop production flow
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.50 - $28.00 per hour
