Nurse (RN/LVN)
Position Summary
The Nurse (RN/LVN) provides nursing services that support the medical, behavioral, and recovery needs of clients receiving residential substance use disorder treatment. Under the direction of the Medical Director and in collaboration with the Program Manager, Clinical Director, and interdisciplinary treatment team, the Nurse performs health screenings, medication-related services, client education, nursing assessments, and care coordination within the scope of licensure and in accordance with DHCS regulations, organizational policies, and accepted standards of nursing practice.
Qualifications
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing.
- Minimum one (1) year of nursing experience preferred. Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, psychiatric care, or detoxification is preferred but not required.
- Current CPR/BLS certification and tuberculosis clearance (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Knowledge of DHCS regulations, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, medication management, infection prevention, and nursing documentation standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. Appropriate orientation and supervision will be provided consistent with licensure, experience, and organizational policies.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports To: Medical Director
- Works Collaboratively With: Program Manager, Clinical Director, Primary Therapists, Behavioral Health Technicians, consulting physicians, pharmacies, laboratories, and community healthcare providers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs nursing assessments, health screenings, medication reconciliation, and ongoing monitoring of client health status within the scope of licensure.
- Assists with medication management, physician orders, medication documentation, client self-administration support, and medication storage in accordance with DHCS requirements and organizational policy.
- Coordinates medical care with the Medical Director, consulting providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and community healthcare providers.
- Provides client education regarding medications, chronic health conditions, communicable diseases, wellness, nutrition, and recovery.
- Responds to medical emergencies, communicates changes in client condition, and initiates appropriate nursing interventions within the scope of licensure.
- Maintains timely, accurate, and complete nursing documentation in accordance with DHCS regulations, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and organizational policies.
- Supports infection prevention, quality improvement, client safety, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of program operations and quality client care.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a residential behavioral health treatment setting and requires frequent interaction with clients and staff. The position requires the ability to respond to medical emergencies, utilize electronic health records, observe infection prevention practices, and safely perform the essential functions of the position.
Pay: $83,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
