The purpose of this position is to focus on advanced leadership, emergency response, and operational management in aquatic environments. Taking on a broader scope of responsibilities, including team leadership and monitor swimming pools to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Actively scans the pool area, observing swimmers for signs of distress.
Monitors activities in swimming areas to detect hazards and disturbances, situations to prevent accidents and to provide assistance.
Acts as a positive role model and ensures staff provides excellent customer service while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Cautions swimmers regarding inclement weather, unsafe areas, or illegal conduct.
Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning.
Examines injured persons, administers first aid, monitors vital signs, applies antiseptics, and bandages, and administers artificial respiration to revive individuals.
Demonstrate skills such as entering the water with proper technique, moving victims onto a backboard, and managing spinal injuries.
Ensures that all pool rules and regulations are followed, including those related to safety, behavior, and age restrictions.
Maintains order and enforces rules.
Communicates, clearly, with patrons to ensure a safe environment and provide guidance to swimmers.
Mops, cleans, and removes trash from restrooms and pool area.
Maintains constant vigilance and recognize potentially dangerous situations to prevent accidents.
Completes and maintains records of accidents, incidents, and rescues, ensuring all reports comply with health department and organizational regulations.
Acts as Shift Lead when Senior Guard is not on duty supervising staff, by writing rotations, handling customer complaints, and counting and securing the money intake for the day.
Schedules for opening the building in the morning and securing it in the evenings.
May be asked to assist in leading monthly Inservice trainings.
Leads monthly in-service trainings for lifeguards and aquatics staff.
Conducts pool inspections, completes pool chemical logs, and reports imbalances or concerns to the supervisor.
Assists with facility operations, including opening/closing procedures and general upkeep.
Reports maintenance needs and ensures facility cleanliness by completing daily cleaning assignments.
Performs related work as assigned.
