American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a night shift assignment requiring a Michigan RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.
-
Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
-
Care for a mix of medical patients including ortho/neurovascular and cardio/pulmonary cases, as well as surgical patients such as GI, urology, hysterectomy, and mastectomy patients
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
-
36 or 48 hour work weeks available
-
Staffing ratio of 1:5-6 patients on nights, which may flex to 7-8 with LPN support

Weekend requirement of every other weekend
-
Floating to other Med Surg units required, typically about once per week
-
Epic charting system preferred
-
Works alongside a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs
-
Active Michigan RN license required
-
BLS (AHA) certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
-
Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required, 2 years preferred
-
Previous charge experience preferred
-
Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
-
Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and various line management preferred
-
Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care preferred
-
Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE preferred
-
Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols
-
Proof of flu vaccination required with consideration, or exemption submitted within 48 hours of signing

Supervisor-level references required

Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment for orientation

Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
-
Provide care alongside nursing students
-
Complete annual self-reported training modules during orientation
-
RTO limited to no more than 10 days during the assignment
-
Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a local rate
-
Previous Bronson travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
