Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer - Onsite
Job Summary
The Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer develops and maintains documented methods and procedures to verify the accuracy, reliability, and service worthiness of sensors and actuators used in Power Unit (PU) control systems. The role supports both laboratory and Formula 1 track operations, ensuring devices meet performance and safety requirements throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop test methods and procedures aligned with manufacturer recommendations, applicable industry/military standards, and specific PU use cases to assess sensor and actuator reliability and accuracy.
- Design and implement protective storage solutions and handling/installation procedures to preserve device integrity.
- Create and execute non destructive, documented evaluation methods to quantify accuracy, reliability, and continued service worthiness of devices; maintain complete records.
- Partner with Data Analysis and PLM teams to correlate device usage with reliability outcomes and establish mileage/service limits.
- Support selection of sensors/actuators for PU applications in collaboration with Electronics Systems Engineering and PU Design.
- Execute assurance testing; document results and produce statistical reports on fleet condition and trends.
- Engage suppliers on performance issues, fault resolution, and supply chain concerns as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience working with electronics in a motorsport’s or high performance environment.
- Proven experience managing and maintaining mission critical devices.
- Strong understanding of the physics and operating principles of sensors and actuators.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MATLAB and statistical analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional motorsports experience (OEM, supplier, or race team).
- Highly detail oriented and methodical; recognizes that calibration errors directly impact on track performance and reliability.
- Effective communicator across engineering groups and external partners.
- Ability to work outside standard hours to support dyno test schedules and trackside events.
- Familiarity with Motion Applied ATLAS and System Monitor.
