Reports to: Fort Lupton High School Head Coach
Salary: Based on the 202627 Extra Duty Schedule (Tier 1 @ up to 12%, based on experience), Fall and Winter Seasons
Summary:
Fort Lupton High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Cheer/Spirit Coach for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate has previous cheer or spirit coaching and/or participation experience, demonstrates a passion for developing student leaders, and is committed to creating a positive, inclusive, and high-energy program that supports school spirit, athletic events, and competitive excellence. The Head Coach will foster the District's core values of Integrity, Teamwork, Commitment, School Pride, and Perseverance while maintaining compliance with CHSAA Spirit rules and district expectations.

Responsibilities:
Program Leadership

Lead and supervise the entire Cheer/Spirit program, including assistant coaches and future feeder alignment.

Develop practice plans, performance routines, and game-day expectations.

Work to choreograph, and create a competitive cheer/spirit program that is able to participate at the highest level at the CHSAA State Tournament, currently planned for Game Day participation

Coordinate fall and winter season performances, pep rallies, assemblies, community events, and competitions.

Promote a positive culture that reflects Fort Lupton High School pride.

Monitor athlete eligibility, attendance, academics, and conduct.

Maintain inventories, uniforms, and equipment.

Ensure compliance with all school, district, league, and CHSAA policies and procedures.

Promote a positive team culture built on Accountability, Integrity, Pride, and Perseverance.
Athlete Development
-
Teach cheer, dance, stunting, jumps, tumbling, sideline techniques, crowd engagement, and performance skills.

Develop leadership, teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship.
-
Provide constructive feedback and support individual growth.
-
Provide regular instruction, mentorship, and constructive feedback to support individual improvement.

Assist with offseason strength and conditioning, skill development opportunities, camps, and program retention efforts.
Communication & Relationship
-
Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with players, parents, coaching staff, and school administration.

Support strong relationships with feeder middle school football programs, youth football organizations, and the Fort Lupton community.

Represent Fort Lupton High School and the football program in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Assist with team meetings, parent meetings, and program events as requested
Game and Event Management
-
Attend and supervise the Cheer/Spirit team and perform at football, volleyball, boys and girls basketball, and wrestling events as assigned.

Coordinate with the Athletic Department for schedules, travel, and special events.

Serve as lead coach during all performances and competitions.

Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants.

Willingness to participate in outside activities such as Parades, Community Engagement, and away contests for State qualifying teams and tournaments

Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, team events, and offseason activities.
Safety and Compliance
-
Ensure compliance with CHSAA Spirit rules, district policies, and safety standards.

Implement stunt progression safely and under direct supervision.
-
Maintain CPR/First Aid certification or obtain prior to season.
Communication & Outreach
-
Maintain positive communication with athletes, parents, staff, and administration.
-
Represent Fort Lupton High School professionally within the community.
-
Support youth cheer development and off-season activities when appropriate.
Qualifications:
-
Previous high school cheer/spirit coaching experience preferred.
-
Previous participation in cheer, dance, or spirit activities preferred.
-
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
-
Knowledge of CHSAA Spirit rules and safety requirements.

Must pass a background check, sign the district Coaches Handbook/Manual, and meet all district, CHSAA, and coaching certification requirements.

CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain.
Additional Expectations:
-
Available for before and after-school practices, games, summer workouts, team meetings, evenings, and occasional weekend events.

Attend preseason, in-season, postseason, and offseason meetings as requested.

Meet bi-weekly with the Athletic Director during the season and monthly during the off-season.

Support student-athletes academically, socially, and personally.

Assist with equipment management, inventory, field setup, and other operational responsibilities as assigned.

Contribute to building a positive, competitive, and sustainable Cheer/Spirit program that develops student-athletes and reflects the values of Fort Lupton High School.
