Join a mission-driven organization that supports Civil Air Patrol’s nationwide operations! We’re seeking a sUAS Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of the sUAS program to include implementation of policy, and execution of programs and operations for the CAP sUAS program. This includes mission support, training, and coordination with a cross-function team of CAP staff and volunteers. This role ensures mission readiness of personnel and equipment and the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of sUAS across Civil Air Patrol (CAP).
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 (annually), based on experience and qualifications.
What You’ll Do

Ensure adequate planning, coordinating, and executing of sUAS missions and CAP regulations in accordance with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.

Conduct regular training sessions and evaluations to ensure mission personnel are proficient, mission ready, and relevant in the sUAS field.

Coordinate with the Logistics department on equipment lifecycle management activities, including planning, procurement, distribution, maintenance, inventory, and disposal of sUAS assets/support equipment.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including FAA guidelines.

Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Investigate and report any incidents or accidents involving sUAS.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of sUAS operations.

Collaborate with other departments to integrate sUAS capabilities into broader organizational initiatives.

Research trends and new technologies to prepare operational readiness for the future.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provides oversight of several volunteer positions assigned to support sUAS operations.
What We’re Looking For
-
Minimum of three years of experience in sUAS operations or a related field.

Flight experience on < 55 lbs. rotary wing and/or < 55 lbs. VTOL sUAS desired

Experience with FAA waivers, COAs, or SGI requests desired

Strong knowledge of sUAS technology, remote sensing capabilities, regulations, and best practices.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills and experience with cross-functional, diverse teams

Strong organizational skills and ability to achieve mission-focused goals

Previous experience with leading volunteers desired

Experience with emergency management systems and disaster response

Familiarity of O365 product suite
