Invariant Corporation is seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced Systems Engineer with a minimum of 5+ years of experience executing the disciplines of the SE V-Model for Product Development and Management. The position will involve the development and integration of various weapon system components into a single product that will mature through formal SE processes. The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, have strong interpersonal skills, have initiative, can manage multiple tasks, and enjoy a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Duties Include:
- Lead systems engineering efforts throughout the lifecycle of the various Weapon System programs, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, testing, and validation.
- Work closely with customers to ensure their requirements are fully met, tracked, and implemented throughout the development process.
- Utilize engineering PLM tools (such as DOORS, or similar) for requirements management, configuration management, and system modeling.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, interface control documents, and test plans.
- Perform trade studies and risk management analysis to support system design and operational decisions.
- Ensure compliance with DoW standards and processes, including adherence to systems engineering best practices and requirements traceability.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional teams in solving complex technical challenges.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (hardware, software, testing, etc.) to ensure systems meet technical, performance, and operational requirements.
- Participate in customer reviews and provide technical insights and solutions in a clear, professional manner.
Requirements:
Candidate must have a minimum of a BS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. A graduate degree and/or formal SE training through the Defense Acquisition University is a plus.
- Candidate must have an active Secret Clearance
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in formal Systems Engineering processes, with a focus on DoW programs and projects.
- Solid understanding and demonstrated experience with DoW standards, regulations, and systems engineering best practices.
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes and lifecycle methodologies, including requirements analysis, system integration, verification and validation, and traceability.
- Proven ability to manage complex systems development efforts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with some or all, of the following:
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated tools.
- Familiarity with software development processes and tools, including Agile methodologies.
- Extensive experience with requirements management and configuration management tools.
Requires ability to:
- Demonstrate innovation, quick learning, excellent communication skills and adaptive thinking.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, making rational decisions, and exercising good judgment is essential.
- Lead a group of multi-disciplined engineers through the maturation of a product and interface regularly with Government Customers, providing updates from the development team.
Work Environment
Office, Lab, Shop, and field environment.
This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama.
