Job Summary
We are a growing high-end residential tile installation company serving New York City. We specialize in luxury homes, custom bathrooms, kitchens, spas, and large-format tile installations where quality always comes before speed.
We are looking for an experienced Tile Installer who takes pride in craftsmanship, pays close attention to detail, and understands the expectations of working in luxury occupied homes. The ideal candidate is clean, organized, professional, and capable of producing exceptional work with minimal supervision.
This is not production work. Every project requires precision, proper preparation, excellent communication, and respect for our clients' homes. We are looking for installers who care about delivering flawless finished products and maintaining our reputation for excellence.
Responsibilities
- Install porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, glass, mosaic, marble, and large-format tile.
- Complete proper substrate preparation, including leveling, waterproofing, and surface corrections.
- Install waterproofing systems such as Schluter, LATICRETE, Wedi, or similar products.
- Perform precise layouts with balanced cuts, proper grout joint spacing, and clean transitions.
- Read plans, elevations, and specifications.
- Use tile leveling systems and maintain industry standards for flatness and lippage.
- Perform accurate cutting using wet saws, grinders, and specialty tools.
- Mix and apply thinset, mortar, grout, and epoxy products correctly.
- Protect finished surfaces and keep jobsites clean and organized throughout each project.
- Communicate professionally with project managers, homeowners, designers, and other trades.
- Follow all safety procedures while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional tile installation experience.
- Extensive experience with high-end residential projects.
- Strong knowledge of porcelain, ceramic, marble, natural stone, glass, and mosaic installations.
- Experience with large-format tile and slab installations.
- Thorough understanding of waterproofing systems and proper substrate preparation.
- Ability to perform detailed layouts and intricate custom designs.
- Excellent attention to detail with consistent grout joints and clean finishes.
- Ability to identify and solve installation issues before they become problems.
- Reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Professional appearance and respectful attitude while working in occupied luxury homes.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with heated floor systems.
- Experience installing uncoupling membranes and crack isolation systems.
- Ability to fabricate custom niches, benches, curbless showers, and specialty installations.
- Experience with epoxy grout and premium setting materials.
- OSHA certification is a plus.
