A full-time PACU Manager opportunity is available at a 371-bed acute care hospital in Central Austin, Texas. This leadership role oversees a busy Post-Anesthesia Care Unit and provides the opportunity to lead a team of 18.5 full-time staff members while supporting high-quality perioperative patient care in a collaborative hospital environment.
The PACU Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the department, combining hands-on clinical leadership with operational oversight. This role manages staffing, scheduling, workflow, and department productivity while ensuring patients receive safe, efficient, and high-quality care following surgical procedures. The manager also leads policy and protocol reviews, supports process improvement initiatives, participates in budget and inventory management, and mentors staff to promote professional growth and accountability. Success in this position requires strong leadership, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.
Manage staffing assignments and scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient workflow.
Provide leadership and support to a team of 18.5 FTEs.
Review, update, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
Complete employee performance evaluations and establish individual development goals.
Participate in budget planning, resource management, and inventory oversight.
Lead quality improvement and process enhancement initiatives.
Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care.
Support organizational goals and serve as a leader during operational and clinical change initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Active Registered Nurse license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Minimum of two years of Operating Room or Day Surgery experience required.
Previous management experience required.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
