We are currently looking for a skilled Mechanical Designer / Draftsman to join our growing team, with primary responsibility for Exhaust and Exterior projects using SolidWorks. Reporting to the Project Engineer, this role will support design and documentation processes for assigned components. The ideal candidate will have advanced SolidWorks, skills, general automotive knowledge (car enthusiast mindset highly desirable), with a detail-oriented mindset and a passion for drafting.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize SolidWorks to produce accurate drafts.
- Update existing drawings and sub-assemblies per the engineer’s instructions.
- Create new detail drawings and sub-assemblies as needed.
- Support projects that include new products, but also sustaining projects and VIP (value improvement projects).
- Scanning and measurement of existing parts to use in the design of new/modified products using standard measuring tools and computer aided tools.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation
- Create BOM (Bill of Material) through project documentation on parts and sub-assemblies.
- Inspect and verify accuracy of drawings to parts.
- Draft documentation that may include BOM (Bill of Materials), test reports, and technical specs for instruction sheets.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure drawings meet project requirements
- Review and modify designs to correct any errors or discrepancies
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in mechanical design and drafting
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Familiarity and/or knowledge of automotive component design.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Education / Experience:
- High School diploma, required.
- Min. AA Degree in drafting preferred, or 2+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
