Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy construction machinery including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, loaders, and other industrial equipment.
- Conduct troubleshooting of electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, engines, brakes, suspension, and HVAC systems using schematics and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to repair or modify equipment as needed.
- Service and maintain farm machinery, tractor-trailers, forklifts, and other industrial vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Execute tire service, wheel alignments, air brake repairs, and suspension adjustments to maximize equipment lifespan and safety.
- Follow safety protocols during heavy lifting operations and welding procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately in service logs and communicate effectively with team members regarding repair status or parts requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance and repair processes.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, hydraulic troubleshooting, and schematics interpretation.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (including soldering), and fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with diesel engine diagnostics and repairs as well as transmission systems.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working on various types of heavy equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on equipment troubleshooting and preventative maintenance practices.
- Valid certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment operation are advantageous; relevant OEM certifications are a plus.
