Field & Fire Cafe is looking for a high energy, coffee expert to join our team as Lead Barista. Our café offers specialty coffees, the finest pastries and locally sourced breakfast and lunch with a scenic riverfront setting. We’re serious about customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will guide the Field & Fire coffee and tea experience with passion and knowledge.
As the Lead Barista, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our coffee program. You will ensure that our customers receive exceptional service and that our front of house team is properly trained on drink making.
Job Duties:

Demonstrate and reflect Field & Fire’s mission for the cafe’s baristas, customers, and local community.

Co-facilitate hiring, training, managing and reviewing 7-10 team members.

Co-facilitate bi-monthly staff meetings.

Train staff on drink making and service standards (quality control and process improvements)

Train staff on espresso bar, dialing espresso, steaming and pouring milk, latte art

Train staff on palate development, coffee, tea, and other tastings (flavor notes, roasting profiles, coffee origin, etc.)

Educate and inform customers about the differences among coffee beans, coffee preparation and home brewing methods.

Support cafe sustainability initiatives, audit, report and implement improvements

Maintain specialty drink service, syrup making and development

Curate coffee and tea selection and service

Conduct weekly inventory and ordering for coffee and tea. Act as point of contact with the coffee/tea suppliers.

Equipment maintenance and repair

Input menu items into Square as needed, while ensuring accuracy. POS troubleshooting.
Requirements:

Minimum 2 years experience as lead barista at a third wave coffee establishment

Knowledgeable about retail psychology, merchandising and marketing.

Must be available to work weekends.

Proficient with various computer software programs (MS Office, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Square POS and Quickbooks).

Restaurant experience is a plus.

ServSafe Certification desirable.
