Job Summary: Provide visual arts instruction with a commitment to cultivating creativity, wonder, and technical skills in students. Integrate a classical methodology into the K-12 art program while inspiring students with a love for truth, goodness, and beauty.
Duties and Responsibilities-
Instruction & Curriculum
- Teach art classes for students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade.
- Develop and implement an engaging visual arts curriculum aligned with the school’s classical educational philosophy.
- Introduce students to foundational artistic concepts including drawing, painting, sculpture, design, color theory, composition, and art history.
- Integrate the study of great artists and artistic movements, emphasizing Western artistic traditions alongside global artistic contributions.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the developmental needs of students across grade levels.
Student Development
- Foster creativity, imagination, discipline, and attention to detail in students’ artistic work.
- Encourage habits of perseverance, craftsmanship, and thoughtful critique.
- Create a classroom culture that promotes curiosity, joy in learning, and respect for materials and shared creative spaces.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback that helps students grow in both skill and confidence.
School Community
- Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Display student artwork throughout the school and help coordinate art showcases, exhibitions, and special events.
- Participate fully in school life, including faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Classroom & Program Management
- Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring art classroom environment.
- Manage art supplies, materials, and departmental budget responsibly.
- Ensure proper care and stewardship of equipment and creative resources.
Education and Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field.
- Teaching experience in elementary and/or secondary education preferred.
- Knowledge of classical education philosophy or willingness to learn and embrace classical pedagogy.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
