Our Services:
- Asphalt batch plant and pavement construction inspection
- Complete laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials
- Concrete batch plant inspection
- Concrete strength testing, concrete mix designs, and in-place strength investigations
- Curtain wall and waterproofing inspection and testing
- Field inspection and quality control of masonry construction
- Fireproofing testing
- Foundation construction observations / inspections
- Inspection of concrete placement and concrete curing
- Mortar, grout, block and brick testing
- Nondestructive examination (NDE)
- Plant inspection for pre-manufactured products
- Post-tensioning and reinforcing steel inspection
- Soil compaction testing and inspection
- Steel fabrication inspection and erection and fastener inspection
- Weld inspection and testing
We perform more types of materials testing than any other independent commercial laboratory and we can design specialized tests to meet the unique needs of any project.
Job Details:
Civil engineering materials testing technician responsibilities include: on-site observations of shallow, intermediate and deep foundations, proof rolling observations, compaction testing of soils and asphalt, concrete testing and observations, reinforcing steel observations, post- tensioning observations, drill and epoxy observations, concrete anchor pull testing and observations, masonry observations with sampling of grout and mortar, spray-applied fireproofing testing and observations, paint film thickness testing, and wood framing observations. Technicians are responsible for proper documentation and review of construction procedures and test results.
Qualifications:
What it takes to be successful in this role:
- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent, preferred
- Summer Internships are available
- No Experience Required – Will Train
- The successful candidate will be encouraged to expand their skills and certifications through company provided training and mentoring
- Must have Basic Math, Calculator and Computer Skills
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
- Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Must be able to work off shifts and overtime
- Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record (required)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
- Ability to climb occasionally
