Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to join our finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various financial processes. We are looking for someone who can research new ventures and use their experience to ensure compliance and financial good standing.
Responsibilities
- Oversee multi-company accounting needs
- Spearhead audits, AR, AP, and payroll with assistance from accounting team ensuring adherence to tax regulations and other compliance
- Manage small accounting team
- Process journal entries and double-entry bookkeeping transactions accurately
- Work closely with tax and legal professionals
- Implement new accounting procedures and improve accuracy and efficiency
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing financial reports, conducting account analysis, and verifying data integrity through meticulous data entry and account reconciliation.
- Assist with budgeting activities, credit analysis, and financial concept understanding to support organizational planning and decision-making.
- Support governmental reporting requirements including multi-jurisdiction sales taxes
- Work with insurance carriers and local unions
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.
- Hands-on experience working with accounting software platforms including QuickBooks and internal software
- Knowledge of payroll management systems such as Paychex along with experience in payroll processing and tax compliance.
- Strong background in account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, accounts payable/receivable processing, and general ledger management.
- Experience working within public accounting firms or in roles involving complex financial concepts such as budgeting, credit analysis, or financial reporting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with ESOP reporting requirements
- At least 5 years experience preferably CPA licensed
- Bachelors or masters degree preferred
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
