Job Summary
Faith Islamic Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and highly qualified 2nd Grade Teacher to join our elementary staff. The ideal candidate is passionate about early elementary education, fosters a love of learning, and creates an engaging classroom where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities
The 2nd Grade Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction across the core academic subjects while creating a positive classroom culture that supports student growth and achievement. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and school leadership to ensure each student receives an engaging and supportive educational experience.
Instruction
- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the Ohio Learning Standards.
- Teach core elementary subjects, including: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
- Differentiate instruction to meet the individual learning needs of students.
- Incorporate technology, hands-on learning, and collaborative activities into daily instruction.
- Foster literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies proficiency through engaging and interactive lessons.
Classroom Management
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Establish clear expectations and consistent classroom routines.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that encourage positive student behavior.
- Promote respect, responsibility, kindness, perseverance, and cooperation.
Assessment
- Monitor student progress through ongoing and cumulative assessments.
- Use assessment data to guide instructional decisions and interventions.
- Maintain accurate student records and grades.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
Family Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
- Foster positive relationships with families to support student success.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with grade-level teachers, tutors, and administrators.
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional learning communities.
- Support school improvement initiatives and continuous professional growth.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with all applicable school policies and Ohio educational requirements.
- Participate in required professional development activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
Required
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Proficient use of the English language: grammar, punctuation, diction, and fluency.
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
- Valid Ohio educator license appropriate for elementary instruction.
- Strong knowledge of elementary instructional practices and child development.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Successful completion of required criminal background checks.
Preferred
- Previous experience teaching primary elementary grades.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and intervention strategies.
- Proficiency with classroom technology and digital learning tools.
