American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) with 2+ years of experience for an acute care hospital position with day/night rotating shifts.
-
Acute care hospital setting within the Respiratory Therapy department
-
Covers inpatient, outpatient, and ED areas with potential future cross-training in Sleep Lab or Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehab
-
Patient population is primarily adults, with occasional pediatric and neonatal patients in the ED and L&D areas
-
Handles approximately 50-75+ treatments per day depending on census
-
Day shift staffed with 2 RTs for inpatient and 1 RT for outpatient; night shift staffed with 1 RT for inpatient

Uses MEDITECH EMR system
-
3x12-hour shift schedule rotating between day and night shifts
-
Day shifts scheduled every Monday and Tuesday; night shifts alternate Wednesday and Friday
-
Every other weekend work required
-
Holiday coverage required as needed

Equipment includes Hamilton Medical C1 & C3 ventilators, Masimo SoftFlow High Flows, Masimo Pulse Oximeters, GEM5000 ABG analyzer, and ResMed bedside CPAP/BiPAP

Minimum 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy specialty required

CRT accepted, RRT preferred

BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)

PCOT certification required
-
Strong ventilator management skills required
-
Must be able to work independently
-
Pediatric experience preferred but not required
-
Ability to assist with intubation (independent intubation not required)

First-time travelers will be considered

License required if applicable

Responsibilities include ventilator management, ABG draws, CPAP/BiPAP administration, High Flow Nasal Cannula therapy, nebulizer and MDI treatments, and airway clearance techniques for inpatient care

Outpatient duties include setting up nocturnal pulse oximetry and blood gas testing
-
Department has no on-site supervisor, lead RT, or charge RT; manager is available 24/7 on-call for weekends and overnights
-
Collaborative team environment where all staff work together; RT assigned to ER receives a lighter patient load that day
-
Hospitalist or intensivist available in-house during the day and on-call at night
-
Department-specific orientation provided over 2-3 days
-
No specific scrub color required

Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
