Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for welding and assembling structural components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding specifications and procedures.
- Perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and <LOCATION> welding techniques on various materials including sheet metal and structural steel.
- Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to prepare materials for welding.
- Measure and mark materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, and basic math skills to ensure precise cuts and welds.
- Set up and operate cranes, rigging equipment, forklifts, and other machinery safely to position heavy components for welding or assembly.
- Follow strict ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes & standards to ensure all welds are compliant with industry safety and quality regulations.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and schematics to verify dimensions, weld integrity, and overall fit-up before final assembly or installation.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, disposing of scrap materials properly, and adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of structural fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, FCAW welding techniques; experience with <LOCATION> welding preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of rigging, crane operation, pipe threading, soldering, machining, ductwork installation, and mechanical systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ASME codes & standards related to welding and fabrication practices.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Experience working with schematics for assembly or manufacturing projects on construction sites or in fabrication shops.
- Valid certifications in welding (including MIG & TIG), rigging or crane operation are a plus but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided if necessary.
