Position Title: Youth Program Coordinator
Reports To: Boys and Girls Club Director
Schedule Hours: Monday - Friday / 8:00am - 4:30pm
Employment Type: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Wage Range: $19.68 - $29.03/hr
Position Summary
The Boys & Girls Club Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and supporting youth programs that promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, leadership development, cultural engagement, and positive youth development. This position works closely with youth, families, schools, Tribal departments, and community partners to ensure quality programming and a safe, supportive environment for all Club members.
The Youth Program Coordinator assists with program planning, recordkeeping, staff support, youth supervision, family engagement, and compliance with Boys & Girls Club standards and Tribal policies. This position serves as a positive role model and helps ensure programs effectively meet the developmental needs of youth ages 5-18
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and support daily youth programming, activities, events, and special projects.

Develop and implement daily activity plans and lesson plans that align with program goals and youth development principles.

Supervise youth during Club activities, events, field trips, and recreational programming.

Ensure all youth are treated fairly, respectfully, and consistently.

Promote healthy lifestyles, positive decision-making, and personal responsibility among Club members.

Continually evaluate program effectiveness and member participation and provide recommendations for improvement.

Assist Program Leaders in preparing materials, supplies, and resources needed for daily programming.

Ensure Club programs comply with Boys & Girls Club standards and operational requirements.
Administration & Recordkeeping

Maintain accurate program records including attendance, participation data, activity documentation, incident reports, permissions, waivers, and other required records.

Assist with data collection and reporting requirements for grants, programs, and organizational reporting.

Monitor and maintain records related to program activities and outcomes.

Ensure confidentiality of youth, family, and program information.

Support compliance with purchasing, operational, and administrative procedures.
Family & Community Engagement

Increase awareness of Club programs through communication with families, schools, Tribal departments, and community organizations.

Assist with parent and guardian orientations, meetings, and engagement activities.

Serve as a liaison between families, schools, and Club staff regarding youth participation and support needs.

Communicate with school counselors, special education staff, and parents regarding strategies that support youth with special needs or individualized educational plans.

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Tribal departments, healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations that support youth and families.
Safety & Compliance
-
Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for youth, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Assist with investigations and follow-up activities related to incidents, accidents, or behavioral concerns.

Report known or suspected abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.

Enforce all Club policies, procedures, rules, and safety standards.

Support emergency preparedness and risk management procedures.

Ensure appropriate supervision of youth at all times.
Other Duties
-
Participate in required training, meetings, and professional development activities.

Travel as required for training, conferences, and Club activities.

Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Board of Directors, Tribal Chairperson, or designated leadership.
Qualifications
Required
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Minimum two (2) years of experience working directly with youth.
Preferred
-
Associate degree in Education, Child Development, Human Services, Recreation, Youth Development, or a related field.
-
Experience working in a Native American Tribal community.
-
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and positive youth development practices.
-
Experience supporting youth with special educational or behavioral needs.
-
Experience coordinating youth programs, recreational activities, or community-based services.
Required Skills & Abilities

Strong understanding of the developmental needs of children and adolescents ages 5-18.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth, families, and community partners.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Leadership skills including problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, and teamwork.

Working knowledge of or ability to learn Boys & Girls Club mission, objectives, policies, procedures, and program standards.

Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a Chauffeur's License within thirty (30) days of hire.

Ability to successfully pass all required background investigations and pre-employment screenings.

CPR certification or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of hire.
-
Food Handler or ServSafe certification within thirty (30) days of hire.
-
Completion of annual Mandated Reporter training.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Ability to attend required Boys & Girls Club professional development and training programs.

Work Environment

This position works directly with youth in a highly interactive environment and requires regular engagement with families, schools, Tribal departments, and community partners. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position. The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding the unlawful use of controlled substances, alcohol misuse, and impairment while performing job duties.

Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and participate in youth activities.

Frequently supervise indoor and outdoor recreational activities.

Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Ability to participate in physical activities and outdoor programming in varying weather conditions.
