Position Summary
The Surgical RN is responsible for providing direct patient care in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of dermatologic surgical procedures. This role ensures adherence to clinical protocols, promotes patient safety, and supports physicians and surgical teams throughout procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Assist with patient assessment, admission, and discharge processes
- Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are prepared and sterilized
- Assist with laundry services preparing linens including patient gowns and scrubs
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes in condition
- Accurately document nursing care, lidocaine administered, and patient responses
- Follow all infection control and safety protocols in accordance with ASC and regulatory guidelines set forth by our accreditation company
- Collaborate with the surgeon, mid-level providers, and fellow staff to ensure efficient surgical workflow
- Educate patients and families on pre- and post-operative care instructions
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and facility policies
- Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current and active RN license in the State of Kentucky
- Current CPR certification (BLS)
- Strong references reflecting ethical behavior and leadership ability
- Proficient in written, verbal, and telephone communication in English
Preferred:
- ACLS certification
- Prior experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
- Computer literacy and familiarity with EMR systems
