Join the culinary team at Boston's Daily Catch, a family-owned Sicilian seafood restaurant that has been a fixture of the North End's dining scene for more than 50 years. Founded in 1973, The Daily Catch built its reputation by serving the freshest New England seafood sourced directly from local fishermen on the Boston Fish Pier and prepared with simple, authentic Sicilian recipes passed down through generations.
As Sous Chef, you'll work alongside our Kitchen Manager as well as our experienced culinary team, helping preserve the traditions that have made The Daily Catch a Boston institution while leading day-to-day kitchen operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for a chef who values exceptional ingredients, consistency, teamwork, and the fast-paced energy of one of Boston's most iconic neighborhood restaurants.
Duties
- Assist in managing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet high standards of quality and consistency.
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, including cooks and food service teams, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
- Oversee inventory control and food safety procedures, ensuring proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices are followed at all times.
- Coordinate with the culinary team to execute authentic Sicilian-inspired seafood and pasta dishes while maintaining consistency, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Support catering events, banquets, and high-volume dinner service by ensuring timely and flawless food execution.
- Monitor shift activities, manage kitchen schedules, and ensure smooth workflow during busy service periods.
- Maintain accurate records of food production, inventory levels, and safety compliance to support operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in an upscale, high-volume restaurant with a strong background in seafood, pasta, and kitchen management.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills with the ability to lead and develop a diverse culinary team.
- Experience managing fast-paced dinner service while maintaining exceptional quality and consistency.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, inventory management, and kitchen operations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with a hands-on leadership style.
- A passion for working with fresh, locally sourced seafood and an appreciation for authentic Italian and Sicilian cuisine.
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager is strongly preferred.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
