Role description
- Designing Engineer Wiper Systems is a full-time, on-site role based in Sterling Heights, MI.
- This role is responsible for designing and developing wiper system components and assemblies from concept through production, including 2D/3D modeling, packaging studies, and design validation.
- The engineer will prepare and maintain technical drawings, specifications, and documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Daily responsibilities include participating in design reviews, supporting virtual builds, hardware builds and validation, resolving design issues, and implementing engineering changes based on test results, customer feedback, and regulatory requirements.
- The engineer will also support root-cause analysis of field or test issues and propose robust design improvements that meet performance, durability, and safety standards.
Qualification
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to automotive wiper systems.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, drafting, and packaging studies of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts as they relate to wiper motors, controls, and system integration.
- Experience in Product Design, including concept development, design for manufacturability, and collaboration with suppliers and production teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience in the automotive industry or with motion/mechatronic systems is required.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to work with cross-functional and customer-facing teams.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
