Beacon Pediatrics is seeking a per diem Phlebotomist to support our busy pediatric practice by providing coverage for unplanned absences, vacations, and other staffing shortages. Candidates should be dependable, flexible, and able to accept shifts on short notice when available.

Position Overview: The Per Diem Phlebotomist performs venous draws, finger sticks and heel sticks for pediatric patients. Phlebotomist is also responsible for other clinical testing including swabs and cultures. Phlebotomist uses their ability to think critically and respond appropriately to medically urgent situations. As in any medical practice, scheduled hours may include days, evenings, and weekends.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draws and collects blood samples from patients through venous draws, finger sticks or heel sticks
- Verifies, records, prepares and processes specimens for laboratory analysis or processes specimens for transport to outside facility
- Performs nasal and throat swabs for testing
- Performs in-house CLIA-waived testing procedures for strep throat, COVID, flu and processing urine samples
- Maintains clean lab space and medical equipment
- Using proper techniques and procedures for hazardous waste disposal, universal precautions and body mechanics
Requirements:
- Phlebotomy Certification or Certified Medical Assistant Certificate - High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 years of experience, preferably in pediatrics
- Knowledge of EPIC electronic health record system is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
