The Lebanese American University, New York, invites applications for a part-time faculty member to teach BUS 101, Introduction to Business, during the Fall 2026 semester.
This three-credit, freshman-level course introduces students to the contemporary business environment. Topics include the principal functions of business and their interrelationships, with an introduction to management, marketing, accounting, finance, and economics.
The successful candidate will create an engaging and supportive learning environment for first-year students and connect foundational business concepts with contemporary organizations, practical examples, and real-world business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Teach the assigned three-credit Introduction to Business course in person at LAU New York.
- Prepare and deliver engaging class sessions aligned with the approved course description and learning outcomes.
- Develop or adapt the syllabus, presentations, assignments, case studies, examinations, and other instructional materials.
- Introduce students to management, marketing, accounting, finance, economics, entrepreneurship, business ethics, and the broader business environment.
- Use practical examples and current business developments to help students understand how business functions work together.
- Assess student learning, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate attendance and grade records.
- Hold regular office hours and provide appropriate academic support to students.
- Use the university’s learning management system to distribute materials, communicate with students, and maintain course records.
- Follow LAU’s academic policies and participate in relevant course-assessment or faculty activities.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree or significant progress toward a doctoral degree in business administration, management, marketing, finance, accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of fundamental business concepts across multiple functional areas.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to teach and support students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Schedule and Appointment
The course is expected to meet approximately two classroom hours (1 hour and 20mins) per week during the Fall 2026 semester. The specific teaching days and times will be confirmed before appointment.
This is a part-time, course-based faculty appointment. Renewal or future teaching assignments may be available based on institutional needs, enrollment, and satisfactory performance.
Compensation
The compensation range is $6,500 to $10,000 for the three-credit course. The final amount will be determined based on academic qualifications, teaching experience, professional experience, and internal considerations.
