Staff Accountant
Working hours: Full Time – In Office, 8AM to 5PM Monday-Friday.
(Times may vary as business needs dictate)
We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and reliable associate for our Staff Accountant position. The Candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, be very attentive to detail and can learn new concepts quickly. Ideal candidates must have a positive attitude, strong analytical skills, and previous accounting experience. The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day entries of the general ledger in addition to providing support for the month end close, route settlement and other areas of the finance department as assigned.
Responsibilities include:
- Daily support to General Manager and Controller.
- Using money room equipment to count and reconcile daily cash receipts from delivery routes. Managing daily bank deposits and rolled coin reconciliation.
- Review, research and clean-up of aged open items.
- Proactively assist with vendor set-up and vendor payment management.
- Leverage vending and micro-market software platforms to produce reports and conduct data analysis.
- Gather appropriate support for new customer set-up and credit term evaluations. Respond to requests/inquiries from customers.
- Record financial transactions in accounting software.
- Complete accurate and timely general ledger journal entries.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial data for unusual trends and variances.
- Monitor operational trends and data to identify and escalate any issues.
- Compile and distribute monthly financial and management reports.
- Analyze inventory activity for accurate posting to general ledger.
- Complete the preparation and distribution of the annual 1099 forms.
- Lead change management and process improvement projects.
- Leverage Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Participate in finance, staff and operation meetings, as required.
- Other duties as deemed necessary in the position.
Work experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
- 5+ years of accounting/financial experience with increasing responsibilities
- Comprehensive understanding of revenue and accounts receivables principles, general accounting processes and best practices
- Proficient in the use of MS Office products (ie Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Focus oriented with strict attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Experience with QuickBooks Online is a plus
Physical requirements:
Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs and stand for several hours each day.
Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Other requirements:
