Position Opening: Admission Counselor
Department: Admission and Advancement
Reports to: Director of Enrollment Management
Contract Schedule: 12-month
Description & Function: Under the guidance of the Director of Enrollment Management, the
Admission Counselor is primarily responsible for generating, engaging, nurturing, and converting
prospective students within Marianapolis’ network and applicant pool.
The Admission Counselor also plays a key role in supporting the broader work of the Admission
Team, including in-person (on-campus and travel-based) and virtual student recruitment through
school visits, fairs, community outreach groups, and recruitment events throughout the year.
Additional responsibilities include providing timely and responsive support to families,
consultants, and placement professionals; maintaining accurate records and reporting; and
ensuring clear, consistent communication with the admission team and the wider school
community. The Admission Counselor is expected to exercise professional judgment,
demonstrate initiative, and contribute to institutional projects that advance Marianapolis’
visibility, enrollment, and community engagement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a clear understanding of, and effectively communicate, the mission, programs,
organizations, and differentiators of Marianapolis Preparatory School to prospective
students and their families, educational consultants, enrollment partners, middle school
placement personnel, and more
- Develop, cultivate, reinforce, and sustain working relationships and partnerships with
prospective parents and students, educational consultants, school placement personnel,
experts in the field, and all constituents related to admission and recruitment
- Communicate and effectively work with students and families throughout the
application process, guiding them from inquiry to the completed application: including
visits and interviews, all application materials, and, ultimately, the admission decision,
accurately documenting interactions with applicants and their families
- Support the coordination and execution of admission programs and events on campus,
such as tours, Open Houses, receptions, and revisit days; and partner with Student
Ambassadors, the Parent Ambassador network, and faculty and staff to ensure the
success of these programs and events
- Travel to engage with schools and their administrators, educational consultants,
secondary school counselors, candidates, and their families.
- Partner with Marketing & Communications to assist in creating dynamic and effective
content to distribute to the admission network, including but not limited to: email
communications, newsletters, social media, and video for strategic planning and
positioning of the Marianapolis brand.
- This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours as well as the potential for
travel.
