Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatric Lead Medical Assistant to join our dynamic mental health team. Responsibilities
- Assist psychiatric providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories, vital signs, and current medications
- Prepare patients for examinations by documenting symptoms and updating medical records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Conduct routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, performing basic physiology assessments, and assisting with procedures in outpatient or inpatient settings
- Manage medical documentation accurately, including ICD coding, medical records organization, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations
- Coordinate patient scheduling, follow-up appointments, and facilitate communication between patients and providers
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with a strong background in psychiatric or mental health settings preferred
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems), EMR/EHR management, ICD coding, and medical documentation practices
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or pharmacology are a plus
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology principles necessary for effective patient care
- Experience working within an out patient environment is desirable
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically in high-pressure situations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in medical records and documentation
