Position Overview
A private family is seeking two trustworthy, organized, proactive, and dependable Family Assistants to provide daily household support, transportation, errands, light organization, and occasional childcare.
We are hiring for:
- Morning Family Assistant
- Evening Family Assistant
This is a long-term opportunity for individuals who want to become reliable members of the family’s daily support system and build positive, professional relationships with both the parents and children.
This is not a full-time nanny position and is not a housekeeping position. The primary purpose of this role is to assist the family with daily routines, transportation, household organization, errands, and other practical needs.
The ideal candidates will be flexible, attentive, emotionally mature, discreet, and comfortable working in a private family environment.
Schedule
- Approximately 40 guaranteed hours per week
- Morning and evening schedules available
- Schedule may fluctuate based on the family’s weekly needs
- Availability may be required Monday through Saturday, with occasional Sunday coverage
- Each employee will receive an assigned schedule and regular days off
- Occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime may be required
- Overtime will be compensated according to applicable laws
- Flexibility is essential for this position
Specific morning and evening shift hours will be discussed during the interview process.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay: $20.00 per hour
- Approximately 40 guaranteed hours per week

Primary Responsibilities
The Family Assistant may be responsible for:
- Driving children to and from school
- Transporting children to extracurricular activities and appointments
- Running household errands
- Grocery shopping
- Pharmacy pickups
- Managing returns and approved purchases
- Assisting with light meal preparation and food prep
- Helping prepare snacks or simple meals when needed
- Maintaining children’s bedrooms and play areas in an organized condition
- Organizing toys, clothing, school items, and activity supplies
- Folding and organizing children’s laundry when needed
- Assisting the mother with daily household tasks
- Providing occasional childcare
- Supervising children during transitions or family activities
- Helping prepare the home for family activities, visitors, or events
- Keeping track of errands, receipts, schedules, and assigned household tasks
- Communicating clearly with the parents regarding completed tasks, schedule changes, or concerns
- Providing general daily support wherever reasonably needed
Light Household Support
The family already works with a professional house cleaner. This position does not include routine deep cleaning.
Light household support may include:
- Tidying children’s rooms
- Organizing toys and play areas
- Folding children’s laundry
- Cleaning small spills or messes
- Light kitchen cleanup
- Loading or unloading the dishwasher
- Wiping counters after food preparation
- General household organization
- Restocking basic household or children’s supplies
- Helping maintain commonly used family areas
Childcare Responsibilities
This is not primarily a nanny role; however, occasional childcare will be required.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supervising children for short periods
- Assisting with school preparation
- Helping children transition between activities
- Preparing snacks
- Supporting age-appropriate routines
- Maintaining a safe, calm, and respectful environment
- Communicating any concerns or incidents promptly to the parents
Vehicle and Driving Responsibilities
The family will provide a vehicle for approved work-related transportation during working hours.
The Family Assistant must:
- Hold a valid driver’s license
- Maintain a safe driving record
- Follow all traffic laws
- Use the family vehicle only for authorized purposes
- Keep the vehicle reasonably clean and organized
- Immediately report any accident, damage, citation, or safety concern
- Complete a driving-record review as part of the hiring process

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have a good driving record
- Have reliable transportation to and from work
- Be legally authorized to work
- Pass a criminal background check
- Pass a driving-record review
- Provide professional or personal references
- Be able to communicate in English at approximately a 60–70% conversational level
- Be comfortable receiving instructions in English
- Be able to use a smartphone for communication, navigation, scheduling, and receipts
- Be physically able to perform normal household-assistance duties
- Be available for a flexible schedule
- Be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement
Preferred Qualifications
The following are preferred but not required:
- Previous experience as a Family Assistant
- Be able to safely lift, carry, push, or move up to 25 pounds as needed during normal household-assistance duties.
- Previous experience as a Mother’s Helper
- Nanny or childcare experience
- Personal Assistant experience
- Household-management experience
- Experience working with children
- CPR certification
- First Aid certification
- Bilingual English and Spanish communication
- Experience with meal preparation
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience driving children
- Long-term availability
Candidates without current CPR or First Aid certification may still be considered, but selected candidates may be asked to obtain certification after hire.
Confidentiality and Professionalism
Because this position involves working inside a private home and supporting a family’s daily life, confidentiality is essential.
The selected Family Assistants must not:
- Share private family information
- Post photographs or videos of the family
- Discuss the family on social media
- Share addresses, schedules, routines, or personal details
- Invite unauthorized individuals into the home
- Use family property without permission
A confidentiality agreement will be required.
