ABOUT THE JOB
Kanna Collective is seeking friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable Baristas to join our team and provide exceptional service to our guests. In this unique role, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality coffee beverages, including custom creations that may or may not be infused with cannabis, while also guiding customers through our selection of cannabis products. You will be the face of Kanna Collective, engaging with customers to understand their preferences, answer their questions, and facilitate sales of both coffee and cannabis items using our point-of-sale (POS) system. This position requires flexibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where you'll be performing a variety of tasks to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction. You will be cross-trained to excel as both a skilled barista and a knowledgeable budtender.
AT KANNA YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR…
- Customer Engagement & Sales: Enthusiastically engage with customers to understand their coffee and cannabis preferences, provide recommendations, and facilitate sales of both product types using the POS system.
- Expert Coffee Preparation: Prepare a wide range of high-quality coffee beverages, including classic drinks and custom creations, with precision and attention to detail.
- Cannabis Product Knowledge: Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of our cannabis product offerings, including different types, effects, and responsible consumption guidelines, to confidently assist customers.
- Cannabis-Infused Beverage Creation: Prepare custom coffee beverages that may be infused with cannabis accurately and in accordance with established protocols.
- POS Operation & Cash Handling: Accurately process customer orders, handle cash and card transactions, and maintain a balanced till using the POS system.
- Floor Presence & Customer Service: Circulate throughout the customer area to proactively ensure guests have everything they need, address any questions or concerns, and create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
- Bussing & Cleaning: Maintain a clean and organized customer area by bussing tables promptly and efficiently.
- Restocking & Side Work: Ensure all supplies are adequately stocked, perform necessary side work tasks (e.g., preparing ingredients, cleaning equipment, organizing supplies) to support efficient operations.
- Cross-Training & Adaptability: Be willing and able to learn and perform a variety of tasks, including specialty coffee preparation, restocking, cleaning duties, and engaging with customers on both coffee and cannabis products.
- Opening & Closing Procedures: Be available to work shifts that may include coming in before the store opens at 7:00 AM and/or working evening hours until the store closes at 10:30 PM, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling.
- Compliance & Regulations: Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as all local cannabis laws and regulations, ensuring responsible service and consumption practices.
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with fellow team members and management to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
THIS ROLE REQUIRES…
- 1+ years of experience in a cannabis, coffee shop, customer service or restaurant environment.
- Familiarity with cannabis products, particularly CBD and THC, is essential; a passion for cannabis culture is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional customer experiences.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Must be 21 years or older and have reliable transportation
- Display excellent sales skills, including the ability to engage customers, drive sales and deliver stellar service
- High school diploma or equivalent; Additional training in cannabis knowledge and/or customer service is highly sought after
- Flexible schedule with ability to work day, evening, and weekend shifts
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment
- Previous budtending experience is a plus
