Job Summary
Private practice seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Hygienist to join our team. This position is 3 days a week In this role, you will deliver exceptional patient care by performing thorough dental cleanings, assessments, and preventive treatments. Your expertise will help promote optimal oral health for patients of all ages, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience in our modern dental practice. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about educating patients on maintaining healthy smiles.
Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis (cleanings), including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced medical imaging equipment while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care, fostering long-term oral health habits.
- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR), including documentation review, medical coding, and treatment notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of dental equipment.
- Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing excellent patient care and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Manage dental equipment operation and troubleshooting to support smooth clinic workflow.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental cleanings and radiography.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments, with familiarity in dental terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, infection prevention management, and healthcare infection control practices.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about oral health maintenance.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
