General Functions:
Supervises directly and through subordinate supervisors the work of employees in one or more teams, groups or crews engaged in the application of a variety of skills and technical expertise. Projects are detailed and complex. General supervision is received from a higher graded superior and work is evaluated through conferences, reports and results achieved.
Representative Duties/Assignments:
¿ Plans, schedules, assigns, coordinates and supervises the work of employees engaged in infrastructure maintenance activities related to roadway and drainage systems.
¿ Work may involve administrative duties as well as construction, maintenance and / or repair functions using complex, technical or heavy equipment and other resources.
¿ Coordinates with other supervisors in the department or other County departments or other agencies as necessary.
¿ Confers with subordinate supervisors; inspects work in progress and when completed. Directs modifications as necessary.
¿ Prepares cost estimates on new job assignments, reports and maintains records.
¿ Reviews for occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the assigned work.
¿ Act as a liaison between the Coordinator and the Foremen in determining projects, needs and problem resolution.
¿ Monitors the management and utilization of supplies, equipment, and manpower of assigned Maintenance Units. Conducts periodic inventories of equipment and tools.
¿ Supports the unit Foreman by independently investigating and responding to citizen's inquiries.
¿ Performs daily site visits to monitor crews¿ activities and work progress. Evaluates the crews¿ performance to determine recommendations for work efficiency.
¿ Directly oversees personnel items (payroll, overtime, corrective actions, training, performance evaluations, accident reports) to ensure their handling in a timely manner.
¿ Participates in interview process (review of applications, interview panel).
¿ Participates in the division¿s emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts for adverse weather situations.
¿ Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience in construction and infrastructure maintenance activities related to roadway and drainage systems, to include one year in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
May be required to possess and maintain the appropriate valid Commercial Driver's License for the type of equipment operated or Florida Driver's License based on area of assignment.
Preferences
¿ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, OUTLOOK, etc.)
¿ Experience in infrastructure repairs and maintenance, and construction retrofit work
¿ Strong organizational skills
¿ Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
