United Gastroenterology Associates is a single-specialty Gastroenterology & Hepatology practice serving Cypress, Katy and north-west suburbs of Houston. We are looking for compassionate and detail-oriented medical assistants to join our practice.
DUTIES
- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
- Complete intake of patients - height, weight, blood pressure, etc & input into patient chart.
- Schedule appointments & procedures and manage the appointment calendar
- Collect and update patient information, including medical history and insurance details
- Timely verification of insurance benefits prior to procedures and clinic visits.
- Assist with medical administrative tasks, such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries or direct calls to the appropriate staff member
- Communicate with patients regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area
- Works closely with other team members to ensure high quality patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the practice manager, MA Lead or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
Qualifications:
- Certification: Medical Assistant certification preferred (e.g., CMA, RMA).
- Experience: Previous experience of at least 1 year as a medical assistant preferably in a gastroenterology clinic
- Skills: Excellent communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in E Clinical Works (EMR).
- Attitude: Compassionate, reliable, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual candidates (English & Spanish) are preferred
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is beneficial
- Experience in providing patient care or medication administration is desirable
- Proficiency in medical administrative support tasks, such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records, is required
- Proficiency with medical billing & coding is beneficial
