Job Title: Lead Design Engineer
Location: Waterloo, Iowa
Salary: $80-100K plus 10% bonus
Job Summary of the Lead Design Engineer:The Lead Design Engineer will work closely with a team of up to 10 Design Engineers to develop mechanical products and systems that meet the needs of customers.
Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Lead Design Engineer:
- Coordinate and oversee engineering projects by analyzing customer requirements, market trends, and competitor products; assigning tasks and monitoring progress.
- Evaluate mechanical systems and products through research and testing, applying principles of mechanics and materials.
- Ensure the feasibility and quality of systems and products by designing testing methods and conducting thorough tests.
- Research and develop manufacturing processes, focusing on cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Maintain product quality by designing and implementing testing procedures and ensuring adherence to regulations.
- Generate product reports by analyzing data and trends.
- Provide technical support and information to team members and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends and maintain professional knowledge through continuous learning and networking.
- Contribute to team success by achieving project goals and targets.
Education & Experience Requirements of the Lead Design Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Experienced Engineer with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience in heavy haul trailer or heavy equipment engineering is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel and design software systems required.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Analytical and technical mindset to understand business needs and automation opportunities.
- Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
- Innovative mindset and familiarity with lean enterprise principles.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new tools and technologies.
